Kristin and Mary Esther team up once more to explore the latest in nutrition for parents. Plus, we invite your children to join in a special "Summer Camp" edition of The Whole Egg!
Together, you will explore the world of culturing and kitchen gardening, along with plenty of mixing, mashing, and mushing to make delicious real food for the whole family. Please note that most of the hour-long session will be a class for adults. We will dedicate 20 minutes to a hands-on project that you and your child will enjoy making (and eating!) during the week.
You can join the session with or without your child. Projects are appropriate for toddlers and up. If you have a baby and would like to join, you are most welcome. You will still get a lot out of the course, and will likely want to do the projects yourself during the week!
4 Tuesdays, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm EST - July 7, 14, 21, 28. $145
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Session 1: The Microbiota
We start with perhaps the most important aspect to overall health — the microbiota. We begin our kid-friendly lacto-fermentation projects.
Session 2: Real Food for Children
We discuss the Whole Egg Theory and how to navigate the tricky terrain of our processed food supply. We begin our summer kitchen garden projects, and make worm poo tea!
Session 3: Safe Environments to Help Children Thrive
We focus on plastics and other environmental stressors for babies, children, and the whole family. Our special summer focus will also include a discussion of sunscreen. This week we make raspberry sorbet, muesli, and sun-steeped mint tea. We also consider how to safely store our treats.
Session 4: Creating Greener Families
We think together as parents about the role we play in creating not just healthy families, but strong communities and a healthier planet. We look at the labels of food marketed as healthy for children (@Kristin_can_I_eat_this?), and share summer projects.
